Site updates

This site was originally created, and its content written and published, in the months leading up to November 2013, for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. Since then, it has remained largely static as a reference guide for the original Doctor Who theme.

I’ve had ideas to expand the site (beyond simply covering later themes, which is daunting but still a desired objective), but never found the time and energy to implement them. It became frozen in time, and—aside from factual corrections—I was hesitant to disturb it.

We were lucky to receive a brief wave of publicity this week thanks to a wonderful article on Boing Boing, which later circulated to Big Finish’s Twitter page among others.

I can’t promise extensive updates, but I did decide it was finally time to tidy up and remove the layer of dust that had accumulated. This page is new, and I’ll try to post here about any changes to the site. (I would not expect these to be frequent.)

From the beginning, I struggled with whether to advertise the site’s creators more prominently. I’m proud of the work we’ve done, but this site is not about its creators. It’s about the theme.

Despite that, I’ve decided to add a Contact page. It is intended solely for sharing information about this website or the theme itself, not for requesting samples or media. If the form is abused, it will be removed. (UPDATE: Predictably, it was abused and has been removed. This is why we can’t have nice things.)

Something important to note is that we will never post anything that may invite scrutiny or raise questions with respect to copyright infringement. This is why we never post full or even partial themes, and any demos are synthesised by us specifically for the site. This site is for sharing knowledge, not distributing copyrighted work, and we don’t want to walk a line that may jeopardise that.

For now, please enjoy what the site has to offer. We’ll see what the future holds.
